Dave Agnew: Dave Agnew has added another year of personal growth, new friends, experiences and a Coach Level 3 surf training class for 2005. In addition, he was part to the Gold Medal division 2 team that participated in the Canadian Canoe Polo Championships in Edmonton, Alberta this past July. Dave is an active kayak coach and player for eight years and counting. He holds a British Canoe Union 4-Star Sea, 4-Star Surf, Coach Level 3T Sea and a Coach Level 3 Surf rating. "The greatest joy of kayaking is sharing it with others". Dave is looking forward to 2006 and the opportunities to share playing and coaching on the water.
Carol Asplund: Carol began kayaking on a rainy day on Lake Union in Seattle and has not looked back. Having taught alpine skiing for many years, it seemed natural to continue her coaching career in kayaking. She is certified as an ACA Coastal Kayak Instructor and BCU Coach and has taught for local clubs and shops in Seattle. She enjoys kayaking in still waters as well as those that are in joyful disarray.
Julie Beck: Julie says she’s been masquerading as a kayaker for, oh, about 8 yrs now. We know her as an enthusiastic instructor and trip leader. She is a BCU 4 Star paddler and an ACA certified Coastal Kayaking Instructor. She can usually be found bashing herself on rocks somewhere along the coast.
Ken Campbell: Ken is a sea kayak guide and instructor. In addition to authoring several books on Pacific Northwest kayaking, he is a long-time presenter at sea kayak symposia and clinics throughout the region. A current board member of the Washington Water Trails Association, he makes his home in Tacoma, where he owns and operates Little Bay Press, a small publishing company focusing on nature and environmental titles. He is also co-owner of Azimuth Expeditions, a Washington-based organization that provides sea kayak instruction and guiding in Washington, British Columbia, California and Newfoundland.
Joe Greenley: Owner of Redfish Custom Kayak & Canoe Co., a design/build company specializing in beautifully crafted woodstrip kayaks and canoes. Joe also offers plans, materials and workshops for the do-it-yourselfer.
Wayne Horodowich: is an experienced paddler, educator and adventurer. He directed the Adventure Programs at the University of California at Santa Barbara for twenty-five years and was their head kayak instructor. Wayne has filmed and produced the popular USK “In Depth” Instructional video series specifically for sea kayaking. He is very active in teaching instructor development clinics around North America and was a former captain of the U.S. Surf Kayak Team. He is the founder of the University of Sea Kayaking, an organization for the promotion of sea kayaking education, which hosts an incredible web site (www.useakayak.org) providing an educational resource to sea kayakers.
Mike Kennedy: Mike has been on or in the water most of his natural life: swimming, sailing and kayaking. Many years of instruction and coaching in both alpine skiing and kayaking have taught him patience and understanding in skill development. He is certified in both the American and British systems, and when not instructing for one of the local clubs or shops in Seattle, Mike can be found somewhere on the open coast of Washington or British Columbia.
Gary Korb: Gary started whitewater kayaking in 1975 and since then has paddled all over the globe including New Zealand, Alaska, Central America and throughout the United States. He has been a Manufacturer Rep. for Riot Kayaks and has competed professionally in kayak rodeos. Gary has bagged many of the Olympic Peninsula's first descents most of which are detailed in his book, "A Paddlers Guide to the Olympic Peninsula".
Sarah Krueger: Sarah is Washington Water Trails Association’s Outreach Director. Sarah received the highest level of Leave No Trace training during a five-day Master Educator course in June 2006. She co-facilitates WWTA's weekend Leave No Trace Trainer workshops and helps coordinate the Sound Education and Action (SEA) Kayaker program which reaches hundreds of people on Puget Sound shorelines with the Leave No Trace message each summer. Gary Luhm: Gary is an outdoor photographer specializing in sea kayaking. Shooting photos from his kayak throughout Alaska and North America for 15 years, his images and articles on kayaking, photography and bird-watching have appeared in Sea Kayaker, Canoe & Kayak, Paddler, Men's Journal, Outside and various books and calendars. Other business clients include Kokatat, Necky, Seals Sprayskirts, Alaska on the Home Shore, Ursa Major and Eastern Mountain Sports. Bill McKenzie: Bill has been leading sea kayaking trips and paddling the coast of Washington and British Columbia for 26 years. He is also certified as an ACA Coastal Kayak Instructor, BCU Coach and 5 star paddler, and currently teaches sea kayaking for several clubs in the Puget Sound area. Bill has also been trained as a Wilderness First Responder and Swiftwater Rescue Technician, and loves to share his knowledge and passion for sea kayaking.

David Price: David started sea kayaking a little over a decade ago and has been teaching and leading trips for the Mountaineers for most of that time. In addition to exploring Washington and BC coastlines he has paddled in New Zealand, Belize, and Mexico. He's still prying open his paddling awareness through instructing and by exploring the coastal environment. David’s holds a BCU 4 Star Sea certificate.
Kathy Ruud: Kathy’s passion is kayaking. She took her first class looking to find an outdoor activity to share with her son and was quickly captivated with this healthy sport. Teaching in other aspects of her life and ACA instructor training has made the move to being able to share her joy in kayaking fun and natural. Everyone can be successful at this playful sport. There isn’t much more wonderful that the smile you find when you empower someone to succeed in accomplishing a new technique or stroke. Kathy lives in Port Angeles.
Rhonda G. Schwab: Rhonda has been kayaking since 1997 and is certified as a BCU Coach Level 2. Other interests have been backpacking and technical rock climbing but now she spends almost every weekend on the waters of Puget Sound. During the summer she will lead trips to places like Nootka or Desolation Sound, BC. Rhonda enjoys paddling in the San Juans and on the coast of Washington, however, her favorite playground is Deception Pass, where she can get a ride on the currents that flow at speeds of 4 to 8 knots. She's actively involved with the Mountaineers Sea Kayaking Group and Washington Kayak Club. Rhonda teaches sea kayaking classes and chaired for both groups since she started her kayaking experience. When not on the water you'll find her at home in her garage repairing kayaks or taking care of her two, one year old Shiz Tzu's (Ebby and Rip Tide)
Kirby Stevens: Owner of Coastal Waters Recreation, Kirby has developed the well-known series of sea kayaking maps for the west coast, Marine Recreational Maps. With first hand knowledge of the coastal waters from southeast Alaska, British Columbia and Baja, he has become a wealth of information. Kirby has been an active paddler for over 30 years involving himself at the local and national levels of the kayaking community. With his passion for the sport he has also become a strong advocate for teaching couples with children how to continue in the sport safely. Writer of nemerous magazine articles and a strong presence at symposiums and paddle fests along the west coast of North America he is always willing to share his experiences maintaining his motto, "promoting safety through information".
Brent Sund: Brent has been kayaking for about 8 years. He's an outdoor enthusiast, but his passion is in water sports, surf kayaking, and inland kayaking. Brent is a BCU Coach and holds the BCU 5 Star Sea Award. He has been fortunate to be a coach and trip lead at the prestigious UK Sea Kayaking Symposium in Anglesey, Wales. Brent coached at the Pt. Angeles Kayak Symposium, WCSKS, and for several other clubs/symposiums in the Northwest. He presently owns and operates a kayaking school, Capitol City Kayak, in Olympia.
Les Uhrich: Les has been kayaking and teaching in sea, surf, and rivers for 18 years. He is a British Canoe Union (BCU) Level-4 Coach and an American Canoe Association (ACA) Coastal Kayaking Instructor. He holds the BCU 5-Star sea certificate, the highest sea kayaking skill award offered by this world-wide organization. Les has paddled in New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales and extensively up and down the Northwest Coast including SE Alaska, British Columbia, Kodiak Island and the Kenai Fjords. He has written kayaking articles for various magazines, including Sea Kayaker, and teaches a range of BCU and other kayaking classes in the Washington area.
Diane Uhrich: Diane paddles and teaches in the river, sea, and surf. She is a BCU Coach (CL3-T) and an ACA Coastal Kayaking Instructor. Sha has paddled extensively up and down the NW Coast, including Alaska, since 1993. She is a member of severalkayaking clubs in the NW and has served on the Board of the Washington Kayak Club (WKC). Diane has volunteered as a leader and instructor for the WKC and the Mountaineers (Seattle and Tacoma).
